Man Charged With Felony DWI After Running Red Light in Creve Coeur

The St. Louis County man has two previous DWI convictions, and was charged as a persistent offender.

The following information was supplied by court documents. It does not indicate a conviction where an arrest was made.

A St. Louis County man faces his third drunk driving charge after being pulled over near New Ballas Road and Olive Boulevard.

Richard J. Delargy, 33, of the 12700 block of Cypressway Drive in unincorporated St. Louis County north of Creve Coeur, was charged Jan. 17 with driving while intoxicated as a persistent offender, a class D felony.

Creve Coeur Police said Delargy made a left turn on a red light and was pulled over by a patrol officer at 11:59 p.m. May 27. The officer said Delargy had watery, bloodshot eyes and he smelled a strong alcohol odor.

The officer reported seeing eight intoxication clues during a field sobriety test, and a breathalyzer test showed Delargy’s blood-alcohol was 0.120 percent.

Delargy had two previous DWI convictions, one in 2001 in Columbia and another in 1996 in Des Peres.

Delargy was arrested on the charge in January, posted 10 percent of a $25,000 bond and was released the same day.
