Man Coming From Court Pulled Over In Creve Coeur for DWI, Police Say

Creve Coeur Police said Eddie Lee Spencer had slurred speech and balance problems, and he repeatedly yelled that he would not go to court again.

A man coming from a municipal court hearing now faces his third driving while intoxicated charge after being pulled over by Creve Coeur Police July 31.

Eddie Lee Spencer III, 37, of the 4400 block of El Paulo Court in Oakville, was charged Aug. 1 with DWI as a persistent offender, a class D felony.  Previously, Spencer pleaded guilty to DWI twice, once each in 2005 and 2011.

Creve Coeur Police said Spencer was pulled over at 7:30 p.m. July 31 at 767 North New Ballas Road. Police said Spencer’s speech was slurred, he had balance problems and was driving with a revoked license.  Officers said he did poorly on a sobriety test.

Officers said Spencer was at a municipal court hearing immediately before his traffic stop. They also said Spender repeatedly yelled he would not go to court again and used profanity.

Spencer is being held in the St. Louis County Justice Center. Bail was set at $50,000 and if released, he must wear an alcohol-monitoring device.
