Creve Coeur Fire Protection crews responded to a three alarm blaze overnight near Page and Lindbergh

Creve Coeur Fire Protection District crews and other authorities are investigating an overnight fire in the Oak Forest Apartment complex near Page Avenue and Lindbergh Blvd.

Watch FOX2 news coverage of the fire

Fire district spokesman Jerry McQueen tells Patch 12 twelve apartments in the complex were evacuated and two people, one resident and a firefighter were sent to the hospital. Both have been treated and released.

McQueen said a resident in the complex admitted that he fell asleep while smoking and that the man tried to put the fire out with water and blankets. Firefighters were called at 2:20 Thursday morning and found fire on every level of the three story complex.

Six units are uninhabitable. McQueen said the man would not be charged with a crime and that the fire would be ruled accidental.
