Man Stole Car in Creve Coeur, Drove to Cape Girardeau, Police Say

The car was used in a retail store theft in Cape Girardeau, Creve Coeur Police said.

A Maryland Heights man is accused of stealing a car in Creve Coeur and driving it to Cape Girardeau.

Tamal D. McMorris, 18, of the 2200 block of Palestra Drive in Maryland Heights, was charged Wednesday with stealing a motor vehicle.

Creve Coeur Police said McMorris stole a 2013 Nissan Sentra from a home in the 12300 block of Creek Run Drive overnight on May 18 or May 19. The car was recovered the next day in Cape Girardeau with McMorris and three others inside, police said. The car had been used in a theft from a retail store, according to a court document.

Creve Coeur Police reported that McMorris told officers he drove the car to Poplar Bluff and met up with the three companions who were arrested with him.

McMorris is being held in Cape Girardeau County jail. Bail was set at $15,000.
