Marijuana Finds and Stolen Phone Recovery Earns Officer Recognition

Officer Matthew Lovasz is a relative newcomer to the department, but is someone who has already earned recognition for his efforts.
Officer Lovasz was honored as part of a recent ceremony showcasing policework over the past quarter.

According to remarks Police Chief Glenn Eidman, Lovasz, while in training, responded to a scene on Warshire Drive in March in what was described as "two men engaged in a heated verbal argument, inside a vehicle." Smelling marijuana, Lovasz searched the vehicle and found more than 120 grams of marijuana, weapons and money. The "heated verbal argument" was reportedly over a drug deal.

Less than two weeks later, Eidman credited the officer's work on a traffic stop which netted 53 grams of the drug.
In late April, Officer Lovasz recovered a stolen cell phone by using the phone's GPS capacity to track its location.
