Missouri Baptist Worker Charged with Stealing from University

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that the O'Fallon woman, a former controller at the university, was charged Nov. 9.

Melinda Okai, a former controller at Missouri Baptist University in Creve Coeur, was charged with stealing more than $25,000 from the university after an audit revealed more than $100,000 in missing funds, according to a report in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

The newspaper reported that the O'Fallon, MO, woman was arrested by Creve Coeur police and charged in St. Louis County Circuit Court on Nov. 9.

The newspaper cited court records that said Okai had skimmed money from student loan refund checks and emergency bridge loans in the name of her husband, who had been a student.
