Update: Mercy Releases Statement On Pedestrian Death

The accident took place February 7 at the hospital's parking garage.

Creve Coeur Police confirmed Thursday that a pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle at Mercy Hospital St. Louis on February 7, died Wednesday.

In a statement Friday morning, Mercy said:

"Thursday, Feb. 7, a pedestrian was struck and critically injured by a person driving out of a parking garage on the campus of Mercy Hospital St. Louis and has since died. Mercy is cooperating fully as the Creve Coeur police investigate the accident.

Mercy expresses deepest sympathy for the  man and his family. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time."

Lt. Jon Romas of the Creve Coeur Police department confirmed that the driver was interviewed at the scene and later released. The victim's name has not been released. The accident is now under investigation by the department's traffic safety unit.
