Police Issue Alert On 'Water Company' Robbery Ruse

Creve Coeur Police are warning residents not to fall victim to a robbery scheme playing out in the area after a resident was robbed of valuables by someone claiming to be a Water Company employee.

Creve Coeur Police put out the following Crime Alert late last week:

"Attention Creve Coeur Residents:

Suspects pretending to work for a water company are tricking residents into letting them in their house to shut off their water. Once inside, the suspect tricks the resident into removing their rings from their fingers. The suspect then leaves suddenly with the jewelry.

This has occurred six times throughout West County in the past year. Please be aware of the nature of this crime and report any suspicious activity by calling 9-1-1 or our dispatch center at 314-737-4600.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact the Crime Prevention Office at 314-442-2075 or by email gfico@ci.creve-coeur.mo.us"

KMOV TV reports that the latest incident happened Friday afternoon in Creve Coeur on the 11000 block of Tureen Drive when a suspect got inside a home under guise of being with Missouri American Water Company, and then fled the area with valuables.
