St. Louis County Man Charged In Creve Coeur Parking Lot Attack

Man faces felony and misdemeanor assault charges after "attempting to kill or cause serious physical injury" Saturday.

A St. Louis County man is being held on $75,000 bond after police say he injured two people in a Creve Coeur Schnucks parking lot Saturday hit a woman's shopping cart with his car and struck another with his car while.

According to a copy of a criminal complaint filed in St. Louis County Court, police say Josef Achtentuch, 61, struck a pedestrian in the Olive Blvd. parking lot just before 10:30 a.m. Saturday. The complaint says Achtentuch threw a brick at the same person, and that "such conduct was a substantial step toward the commission of the crime of attempting to kill or cause serious physical injury," of the victim.

The complaint alleges that happened Achtentuch injured a woman in the same parking lot by hitting her shopping cart. The St. Louis Post Dispatch reported the first victim, a 47 year old woman, refused treatment and that the second, an 81 year old man, was treated and released from a hospital.
