Traffic Alert: Watch Out For Pedal The Cause Riders Sunday

The annual fundraiser to benefit cancer research in St. Louis hits area streets Sunday.

Drivers Sunday will want to take particular care on roads winding from downtown St. Louis all the way to the Western reaches of St. Louis County, as bicyclists hit the pavement.

They're supporting Pedal The Cause, the annual fundraiser that benefits local research at the Siteman Cancer Center, the Washington University School of Medicine, Barnes Jewish Hospital and Children's Hospital.

Courses open as early as 7:00 a.m. Sunday morning.

Organizers have warned participants that this is a ride, and not a race, per se, and that the event is taking place on open roads.

In some cases, there will be event marshals along the course to provide guidance.

The MICDS campus as well as the Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes West County Hospital are among "refueling stations" for the ride.

Organizers are also warning riders to pay attention to traffic at St. Monica Church in Creve Coeur as well.

 

 

 

 

 

Q: What time does the ride start?fA: Start times vary depending on the course:- 7:00am: 75 mile ride- 8:00am: 50 mile ride- 9:00, 9:10, 9:20am: 25 mile ride- 9:30am: 15 mile ride You can also view your start time on your bib, which will have a label with this info on the back. 8Q: Are all of the streets closed on the course?aA: No. Pedal the Cause is on open roads. Roads include both marked and unmarked hazards. While PTC takes every measure to make the ride as safe as possible, always remember that your safety is in your own hands.
