Janet and Jonathan Esrock remain hospitalized at Mercy Hospital St. Louis in Creve Coeur Thursday morning, 6 days
A hospital spokeswoman said Janet Esrock, a math teacher and girls field hockey coach at Whitfield School in Creve Coeur, was in critical condition while her son, a student at Whitfield, is in satisfactory condition.
According to a CaringBridge website established by the family, Jonathan is dealing with a range of injuries, including broken ribs, torn neck ligaments and partially collapsed lungs.
Members of the Whitfield School Varsity and Junior Varsity Girls Volleyball squads are wearing shirts that read, "We play with (Heart Shape) For The Esrocks" on the back, as a show of support for the family.
Authorities told KSDK-TV that the Esrock's vehicle was struck head on by another vehicle and that charges were pending against the driver of that vehicle.
A Chesterfield police spokesman told Patch Wednesday that their investigation has been forwarded to the St. Louis County prosecutor.
