Creve Coeur Government Center Hosts Blood Drive

Winter weather conditions can keep donors at home, or worse, be the cause of accidents that tap into area blood banks.

What do you think about when you think of things to do in December? People are consumed by the holidays, vacations, wrapping up end of the year business. It's no suprise then, that Red Cross supporters here in Creve Coeur and around the country say this time of year can also be bad for the blood supply.

Accidents are not the only factor in how much blood is available. Seasonal illnesses can have an impact by disqualifying potential donors. For example, sixteen people signed up to donate blood on Wednesday at a City of Creve Coeur Blood Drive, but only fourteen were actually able to give.

We've posted a slideshow from the event. To find a blood drive coming up near you, click here.
