Creve Coeur Parks Director Resigns

Fran Thies had been in charge of the department since March of 2007.

At Monday night's City Council meeting, city leaders will announce the appointment of a new director to lead Parks and Recreation department.

The appointee will succeed Fran Thies. Patch learned earlier this week that Thies submitted a letter of resignation April 16 which took effect June 30. A city spokeswoman said the letter did not offer an explanation for Thies' departure.

Reached by email, Thies wrote, "I have no comment at this time."

Thies started working for the city of Creve Coeur as a part-time employee in the Parks and Recreation department in January 2001 and eventually rose to lead the department in March 2007.

Her tenure coincided with ongoing efforts to make recreation facilities, including the Dielmann Complex and the Creve Coeur Golf Course financially viable on their own.
