Participate 2012: Creve Coeur Election Deadline Passes

Only contested city race in Creve Coeur will be in the Mayor's race.

The deadline for filing to appear as a candidate on the April ballot came and went Tuesday night with only one city race shaping up as a two-person contest, as former city council members

Incumbents are running unopposed in each city council ward. In fact, Dr. Robert Hoffman will be without a challenger for the second time in as many years, following last year's election to complete an unexpired term in Ward 3. Last April's ballot saw multi-candidate races in three wards.

Ward 1 Councilman David Kreuter, who filed his paperwork Tuesday morning, said the importance of the Mayor's race--which had declared candidates more than a year ahead of time--played a role.

"I liken it to a basketball court. I think everybody's clearing out the middle for the two centers to go at it," he said.
