Participate 2012: First Candidate Files For Parkway School Board

Parkway School District Board of Education member Beth Feldman filed Tuesday in a bid for re-election to a 3-year term in April.

Feldman was the first to register on first day of the filing period. Candidates have until January 17 at 5 p.m. to register to get on the ballot.

Feldman's earliest filing time Tuesday at 8:01 a.m. will give her top billing on the ballot. Observers said Feldman was in the district parking lot not long after midnight, in order to be first in line.

Feldman said earlier this year she wanted to stay on the school board. She was first appointed in 2008 and is currently the board's vice president.

Board Director Helen Casteel denied last week having made any decision yet on running to retain her seat on the board. there were many factors to examine, and that she needed to talk with her family, before making a public statement. Casteel has served two terms.

Parkway Board of Education candidates must meet the following qualifications to serve:

• Be a U.S. citizen
• At least 24 years old
• Be a resident taxpayer of the Parkway School District
• Have or will have resided in Missouri for one year prior to the April 3, 2012 election

Candidates must file in person at the , located at 455 N. Woods Mill Rd. in Chesterfield. Filing can be done at that location from 8 to 11:30 a.m. and 1 to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Filing hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m on Jan 17, the last day of filing.
