Planning Panel Passes Post II Sports Bar Proposal

The spinoff of the Maplewood sports bar could open in June.

The owner of the Post Sports Bar and Grill in Maplewood gained Creve Coeur Planning and Zoning Commission approval Tuesday on a conditional use permit to occupy space at Creve Coeur's Farmers Bank Shopping Center across from CityPlace.

The decision now moves to City Council for a pair of readings, including one Monday night.

The Planning and Zoning Commission also voted to change city code which currently limits restaurant space in retail and office space under two acres in certain zoned areas to 25 percent of the entire square footage available.

Last year, P&Z officials changed the requirement in the MX zoned area which led Ray's Donuts to relocate from Olivette.

Tuesday's move, pending Council approval, makes the code consistent across MX, Core Business, Planned Commercial, Planned Office and Light Industrial Districts, meaning that restaurants would be able to occupy up to 40 percent of square footage available in centers under 2 acres.
