Town Hall Trumped By Cardinals Baseball

City Council members wanted to avoid conflicts with playoffs.

The scheduled for Wednesday night in Creve Coeur was rescheduled late Monday afternoon, due to the potential for conflict with Game 3 of the National League Championship Series between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Milwaukee Brewers.

The meeting was scheduled several weeks ago, long before the Cardinals propelled themselves into playoff contention. Game 3 of the best of seven series is scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday night at Busch Stadium.

In an email to Patch, Ward 1 Councilwoman Beth Kistner wrote, "We didn’t want people who otherwise were interested in attending or had issues they wanted to raise, be excluded because of game watching/attendance. And since our hottest issue – the, a certain degree of the Town Hall timing significance had lessened."

Game 2 of the series also conflicted with another city meeting, Monday night's City Council meeting, which went on as planned. Support for the Cardinals came up in the prayer prior to the meeting, and roughly one hour in, there were open inquiries about the score of the game (4-0 at the time).

The Town Hall meeting will be held Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at the Government Center.
