Resident Was "FEDUP" With The Postal Service On Tax Deadline Day

Frustrations Dealing with the Federal Government

Because my accountant was very busy this year, I did not receive my completed tax forms until April 15th, 2013. While both the State and Federal were filed electronically there was one form that had to be mailed.

I arrived at the US Post Office at 331 North Ballas Road, Creve Coeur at 2:05 PM and took my customer number. It was 71. When I looked at the counter there were only two employees out of six positions waiting on customers. The customer counter was at 44!!!

Approximately, one hour and five minutes later, good old #71 came up! Part of the delay was due to two passport applications and of course all of the people who were sending in their tax returns as registered mail to be sure they received a return receipt. The two employees who were working were diligent, courteous and processing the customers as quickly as possible. The Branch Postmaster, Ms. Deborah Goldsby was not on the counter and the venetian blinds on the window to her office were closed tight. I have no idea whether she was there or was hiding in the office??

Upon inquiring why there was only two employees on the counter I was informed that the other employees missed their bus! Is there only one public bus to Creve Coeur per day? Obviously, the missing employees knew it was going to be a very busy day. Draw your own conclusions.

If I was the St. Louis Post Master I would fire the Creve Coeur Branch Postmaster!(I'll Bet we get some ludicrous excuse of coincidences for the failure)

In my opinion the solution to the post office is to eliminate it with fair treatment to the employees and their pensions and have UPS & FedEx form a private joint venture to bring innovation and service to the United States Mail System.

I suggest we name the new joint venture "FEDUP"
