“Connie thought freshman year might suck. She never thought it'd be literal.

“Bad dreams? No big deal. After all, Connie Perez is starting her first year in the prep school her mom runs. Anyone would be a little stressed, right? When she starts dreaming about strange creatures and places that don't make sense, she doesn't think much about it: there's other stuff on her mind. Then she starts noticing that the people she dreams about get sick right afterwards.

"Then everything gets weird.”

Wow! This book really pulls in the reader, from the very beginning and all the way through to the end. It’s a wonderfully compelling story, not your typical vampire/YA book – although there are certainly mythical and magical events swirling around the protagonist, Connie, a high school freshman. Whether you’re a teenager, or have one, or just like reading YA books, this is definitely the one for you!

We hope for many more from Isabel Kunkle, an author who can realistically depict teens and the complicated issues of high school, as well as weave an original, fascinating story that is both different and yet totally relatable. At the same time, the story is almost...realistic…in an alternate-type universe.
