Lost Cat!

Lost Cat

Sorry, no book review this week – I’ve been really busy with, besides the usual bookstore things, searching for our cat. So I’m putting the word out, just in case any of you have seen him:

He’s an 18-pound, longhaired, gray Maine Coon. He loves being outside (obviously!), he loves water, and he loves to eat. He’s also something of a Houdini, although he occasionally answers to his name, Wilson. He does meow, but often silently – makes him a bit difficult to track down!

When he was small, he slipped into a drawer and went to sleep for a couple hours. Finally, our son thought to look there for some reason – whew! On another occasion, recently, he removed a window screen and escaped. No, he didn’t tear it or anything, just pushed it out.

Friday morning, as I went into my office after opening the door, there was no Wilson. He’d simply vanished; one door was locked, the other tightly latched, the window had an A/C unit bolted into it.

A few minutes later, we saw him through another window. He was sitting by the front door on the sidewalk, just waiting. After a closer examination of the office, we discovered that he’d pushed aside the plastic accordion folds next to the A/C unit, without ripping it apart, and managed to squeeze through a 3-inch space.

We did a temporary fix, thinking he’d only gone out because he was alone and bored overnight and fully intended to do something more permanent. We left the house around 5:00 p.m. that evening and returned about 7:30. He was gone again. And this time, he hasn’t come back; it’s been two days now.

If anyone sees him or has taken him in, please contact me here as soon as possible. We really miss the little (!) scoundrel and lost our other kitty a few weeks ago to kidney disease. I think even the dog misses him….
