Beal Invited To Try Out For USA Basketball Squad

Chaminade standout could be headed to Latvia this summer.

Brad Beal's basketball experience has a few more stops before the soon-to-be graduate heads from Creve Coeur to the University of Florida.

Thursday, USA Basketball announced the roster of invitees competing for 12 spots on the nation's Under-19 World Basketball Championship squad. Tryouts for the team will be held in Colorado Springs June 17-24, with the roster announced on the last day of camp before heading the event, to be held in Latvia from June 30-July 10.

Beal spent part of last summer as a member of USA Basketball's Under-17 squad which won that world championship event in Europe, where he also took home MVP honors.

He used that exposure as a springboard to a senior campaign at Chaminade which took the Red Devils to the state quarterfinals, and landed Beal spots on the , Team USA at the , and .

Beal is one of only three high school seniors invited to the camp. He'll be joined in Colorado by a future University of Florida teammate, Patric Young.
