Greg, if you can't find something decent to say about everybody in an article on running, don't say anything. This shows poor journalism.

I disagree. Good journalism is relaying the facts in an impartial and unbiased way. I think Greg did a good job. Not his job to say nice things.

I did not say nice things. Find out about a candidates views and write about them. An election is all about what a candidate believes in, not what an editor has to to assume or through in his side remarks about Linkedin or prop1 remarks. The editor in this case has put a bias slant to his story.

Sam, there's a solution for your campaign. Create your own media. Blog, website, social media, etc. The Internet is open for do-it-yourself promotion and journalism. It's about creating image and culture.

Thanks Scott for your input. I want the best for all our students, but fiscal responsibility is hard to get in the heads of the taxpayer and board. We have a great district, but with 80% going for salaries and benefits is a big problem. The present board thinks that by capping non-certified and leaving certified non-capped is a solution. Also, putting a activity fee tax on the district parents at a price of 20,000$ or a bit more is great. This is just pennies in multi-million dollar problems. Take big steps now for the future. The school district recieved their tax increase by a 53-47% margin, I believe another tax increase in four years won't and should not happen. Don't kick the can, take a bold approach now.

Sam, I agree with your stance. I attend almost every board meeting and I would love to discuss this further with you via email or in person. I will say that there are some exciting things happening and I believe we have a very strong CFO who is constantly looking for big and small ways to save money and be overall more fiscally responsible and fair to the children and the taxpayers. So there is hope. Of course, the CFO can only create and present ideas, he needs a board and administration who will do the right things. I believe you would be an asset to the board. I think that the any money spent "in the best interest of the district" should have been spent on energy-efficient windows (assuming a good Return On Investment), other necessary improvements, or other expenditures which are in the interests of the students and the taxpayers - not the former Superintendent.

A school is all about teachers and students ... what exactly should the money in the budget go towards if not teachers and the support staff who keep the schools running?
