Craig School Will Have New Principal Come Fall

Dr. Nicole Evans had been principal at the Creve Coeur area school since the fall of 2009.

Students at in Creve Coeur are spending the last few weeks of the school year with a new principal, and will have a revamped administrative team in the fall.

District administrators confirm Dr. Nicole Evans' last day was April 24 and that "she resigned for personal reasons and professional reasons."

Bruce Hunter, a former principal at Shenandoah Valley who retired last year after 32 years in the district, has taken over in an interim role. In the school's May newsletter, Hunter said, "I am eager to begin this important journey with you. Craig is an outstanding school with a supportive community. Together, we will continue to have a strong focus on student learning. In the upcoming weeks we will celebrate the substantive work of our students and staff memebers as we close out the year." It does not address Dr. Evans' departure.

Parkway School district spokeswoman Cathy Kelly has confirmed that Jodi Meese, an assistant principal at the school, will be moving to River Bend Elementary in the fall as the district recalibrates staff to account for new attendance boundaries. Another assistant principal, Dr. Alicia Bottorff, will be taking maternity leave some time in August.

Kelly added that interviews for a new principal at Craig are underway and that a finalist could be named in a few weeks.
