Creve Coeur Public School Families Have Better Idea About Snow Days

Pattonville and Parkway have now laid out plans; Ladue taking wait and see approach.

Parents in the Pattonville school district can now join their Parkway counterparts in mapping out the rest of this year's academic calendar, a task made difficult due to the number of snow days piling up in the St. Louis region.

Tuesday, Pattonville's board of education approved using April 22 as a school day, instead of a previously scheduled vacation day. The district had built in six days to account for snow but have had to take seven so far in 2010-2011. The last day of school for the district will be June 1, unless weather forces another change.

that it would make up missed school days within the school year. Parkway staff and students will make up three school days on Feb. 18, April 29 and attend a half-day on May 27.

A spokeswoman for Ladue Schools, the other public district serving Creve Coeur, says officials there believe if there are no further snow days, classes at and would not be impacted. Susan Dielmann says state mandates on the amount of hours students are in some classes at can still be managed with the existing schedule, but administrators want to wait and see how the weather unfolds before changing the school calendar.
