"Radiology: It's More Than Just X-Rays - What you need to know before scheduling your next mammogram or radiology exam"
Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital invites the community to a free event called "Radiology: It's More Than Just X-Rays - What you need to know before scheduling your next mammogram or radiology exam," on Oct. 16.
Andy Bierhals, MD, James Duncan, MD, and Jennifer Demertzis, MD, Washington University radiologists at Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital, will discuss how radiology is being used to diagnose and treat diseases—advancements that were unheard of just five years ago. Learn about sub-specialists within radiology who can more accurately diagnose disease and give referring physicians more precise information to determine the best course of treatment.
Physicians will also cover how advances in radiology are being used to screen and treat lung cancer, breast cancer, and metastatic tumors on the bones and muscles. Learn about new options of less invasive, image-guided procedures that can result in much faster healing times than complicated surgeries with large incisions. Important information on radiation dosage and safety will also be addressed.
Light refreshments will be served. To register, call 314-542-WEST (9378), or 800-392-0936.
