A new school year for Pattonville School Distrcit is just around the corner—and that means new faces among students as well as teachers.
She said she loves the communication involved at the 5th grade level. Students at that level have matured more than other elementary grades, she said, which lets teachers be more collaborative with them on class rules and conduct.
Kirchner says the biggest challenge for the new school year—which, she says, will also be a strength—is to build the student-teacher connection with her pupils. She said it’s something she’s looking forward to building.
Previously Kirchner student taught in the Parkway School District, specifically at Green Trails Elementary. She went on to earn a degree in Elementary Education from Mizzou last May.
If Kirchner could instill one thing into her students, she said, it would be self-confidence. She wants her students to know they can be successful, she said.
The first day of school for Pattonville is Aug. 15.
