Parkway Brand Getting A New Look

The District is holding a pep rally of sorts at this hour to unveil a new logo.

With a pep rally of sorts set for Thursday morning, Board of Education is introducing its new branding image or logo to the public.

The district's new superintendent, is addressing a district gathering in Queeny Park, which began at 10 a.m.

Parkway's newest brand can be recognized as a half-sun with rays, as well as an open book with the pages radiating out and upward in a half-circle.

The giant school district covers 68 square miles and was created in 1954 by the consolidation of three smaller districts, after citizens voted to merge and share the cost of building a high school.

At Wednesday's Board of Education meeting, directors wore new name badges branded with the new logo.

According to the school district's website, there have been a handful of logos over the district's 57-year history—most included the torch. This one drops that look. The state's Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education uses a flaming torch for its logo.

Board Director Dee Mogerman, a Creve Coeur resident and one of the longest serving members, said she was out-voted in keeping the torch theme in the re-design during the planning phase.

Late Wednesday night, the district's website still sported the old logo. It was unclear how quickly the branding would be incorporated across the district.
