Parkway North High School's Rachel Bartlett won a full scholarship to Germany for the 2013-14 school year.

The following information was provided by the Parkway School District in a news release.

Parkway North High School’s Rachel Bartlett won a full Youth For Understanding (YFU) scholarship to Germany for the 2013-14 school year.  Bartlett, a junior, won the Congress Bundestag Youth Exchange (CBYX) scholarship. She’ll attend orientation in Washington, DC, and then leave for Germany where she will take a German language immersion course before traveling to live with her YFU host family.  This is the third year in a row a North High student has won the scholarship.

About YFU
Youth For Understanding awards $1.6 million in scholarships to American high school students every year - more than any other exchange organization.  YFU is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that was founded by a woman who lived through two world wars and wanted to help prevent a third.  She believed that giving young people the opportunity to live in another country would increase their understanding and respect for people of other cultures.  The first YFU students were German youths chosen by the US Army of Occupation in 1951.  YFU now serves families in over sixty countries and has sent more than 250,000 young people abroad.
