Pattonville School Board Set to Vote on New Equal Opportunity Language

The School Board will consider new language that will include sexual orientation, military obligations and genetic information.

The Pattonville School Board will consider amending its Equal Opportunity Employment (EOE) language Tuesday to include several criteria. If passed, the school district would not take into account:

  • Ethnicity
  • Creed
  • Military obligations
  • Genetic information
  • Sexual orientation
  • Socioeconomic status

The new language will also ensure each employee job training and educational opportunities.

The old language read: "It is the policy of the district to afford equal employment opportunity to qualified individuals regardless of their race, color, national origin, ancestry, religion, sex, age, disability, veteran status, or to the extent required by all applicable laws. The policy of equal opportunity applies to recruitment, selection, placement, promotion, transfer, compensation, benefits, and termination."
