Simon Sez: Who's NOT Voting Next Tuesday?

Who isn't voting next Tuesday? No more stories about undecided voters less than a week before the election.

I don’t want to see or hear any more stories about undecided voters less than a week before the election.

Who isn't voting next Tuesday?

My interest with non-voters was kindling until yesterday when I read two items. One was by Dr. Larry Sabato, the well-regarded political scientist at the University of Virginia. He reports that one percent of people who do vote don’t cast a ballot for President!

The other item that sparked my interest was from the St. Louis County Election Board who projects 75 percent of registered voters will turn out next Tuesday.

I can see that happening with the emotion and energy that’s been building up for months.

It also means 25 percent aren't voting

Most of that percentage will be elderly voters who have mobility issues and getting out isn’t the easiest thing for them to do. I have no problem with that. They’ve done a lot in their lifetime including voting in past elections.

Those of us who are younger must account what’s best for them and us. I don’t like those who have “The world revolves around me, period.” People like that live life in a box. I’m addressing unmarried or unattached voters.

Those who are married or attached, especially with children, have more plates to spin; what’s best for them, their partner, children and living parents.

These are the things we’re not seeing reported. And news isn’t telling us something we already know.

Comment below why you're not voting

There’s a catch. Publish your full and real name.

If you don’t vote, don’t complain when your representative and government do something you don’t like. We want to know who you are.

It’s a credibility thing. The same thing we want from the people we elect.
