2012 Chaminade College Prep Football Season Preview

Head Football Coach Doug Taylor is back at the helm for another Red Devil season, and just like years past, he barely has to look outside his own conference to find a tough schedule of opponents. Metro Catholic Conference foes and CBC are in the Top 5 in the Class 6 preseason rankings. Rockwood Summit, also on the schedule, are number 5 in the Class 6 poll.

Among Taylor's tasks this season--replace a gutty running back in , and Brandon Minor, a linebacker getting interest from Division I college programs who transferred to McCluer North. 

Coach Taylor answered a few of the big questions heading into Friday's opener at Summit.

1. Key players Returning:  , Brendan Weiss 6’4” 255 Jr. OT/DT, Sam Frelich 6’1” 185 Soph. WR/DB, Nick Babinski 5’11” 170 Sr. WR/DB, Justin Smith 5’8” 150 Sr. RB/ DB, Thomas Martin 6’4” 190 Jr. QB/WR/K/P.  

2. Toughest players to replace:  Brandon Minor, Andrew Still, Dixon Anthon, Spencer Byrne, Matt Greer, Harry Ott, and Max Wilhelm.  

3. What Have You Learned About Your Team So Far In The Offseason/Fall Camp We are a little thin at several positions and we have already sustained a lot of injuries.  We need to cross-train our players, so that they can play several positions.  

4. Besides the next game, is there a game you're circling on the schedule? I think all our MCC games are very special. No matter what the records, there is always a great atmosphere and great competition at all of the MCC games.  

5.  We’ll be successful if... we can stay healthy.
