Brad Beal Finishes Third In Skills Competition As Senior Takes In All-American Experience

Chaminade College Prep star Brad Beal had his talents on display in Chicago as part of the McDonald's All-Americans skills competition Monday.

CHICAGO—Brad Beal rolled his eyes after misfiring on his final attempt in the 3-point competition Monday night, letting out a sigh as if to suggest he was disappointed in himself.

Later, Beal could do nothing more than stand and shrug with his palms facing upward after Myck Kabongo bested his time in the skills competition despite not technically finishing the competition after missing a lay-up.

Still, Beal cracked a few smiles as he soaked in the experience of being among the best of the best, back on the court since season ended short of a trip to the Final Four in Columbia.

"It's been fun," Beal said in reference to what will be a four-day experience in Chicago. "The practices and everything and then the competitions today. I'm just getting to know the guys better, hanging out and having fun."

Beal and the other 23 McDonald's All-American High School Basketball Team members began showcasing their talents during Monday night's skills competition at Convocation Center on the campus of Chicago State University.

The 6-foot-5-inch University of Florida-bound guard did a bit of double-dipping by showing off his range in the 3-point shootout and his ballhandling during the skills competition.

Beal didn't make it out of the first round in the 3-point shootout as the competition's lead-off man only scored 11 points.

A seemingly more relaxed Beal shored up his game during his second event as he qualified for the skills competition finals before finishing third behind Kabongo and event winner Michael Carter-Williams.

Beal will be back out on the court to share the floor with Carter-Williams as members of the East Squad Wednesday night.
