Chaminade Puts It Together In Second Half To Defeat Parkway Central

The Red Devils and the Colts are both getting ready to face De Smet later this week.

The Chaminade Red Devils, who were ranked as high as number 2 in the country a few weeks ago, are back on a two game win streak for the first time in roughly two weeks following a 4-2 win Tuesday over visiting Parkway Central.

Chaminade, which fell to Sacramento Jesuit and tied South Kent (CT) last week in a matchup of national-level programs, defeated John Burroughs 1-0 Monday before hosting the Colts.

"Every time we step on the field no matter who we play, they’re going to give us their best shot, and that’s what we want.  We have to show some maturity and senior leadership and be ready to play whoever we play," said Chaminade Head Coach Mike Gauvain.

Tommy Barlow scored in the game's first minute and the Red Devils held control of the action for much of the first half, until the Colts' Louis Wang found the back of the net in a wild sequence of chances for Parkway Central with 4:15 left in the half.

Ryan Fagan put Chaminade ahead for good 8 minutes into the second half after weaving through traffic. Jordan Bay and Jason Pesek added scores for the Red Devils before Ben Mendel tallied the final margin for Parkway Central inside the final minute.

"We played with them for a good 50-60 minutes of the game, just got a little bit tired at the end so for us it just builds confidence that we can play with pretty much anybody out there right now," Central Head Coach John Theobald said.

Theobald's club gets a day off after playing six games in six days. His team will come back to Creve Coeur Thursday night to face De Smet. The Spartans will get Gauvain's Red Devils Saturday at Chaminade.
