Creve Coeur Radio Station Lays Out World Series Plans

101.1 will offer special programming along with the national radio broadcast of the fall classic between the Cardinals and Rangers.

Two months ago, Creve Coeur-based FM had plans to rearrange evening programming, effective in early October. Among the moves, a show featuring Brian Stull and Chris Duncan was going to occupy the 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. weeknight slot, followed by Cliff Saunders' "The Late Shift," which would move to an earlier 8 p.m. slot.

Thanks to the St. Louis Cardinals' inspired run through the postseason, those changes have been put on hold. The ESPN Radio affiliate has carried the national broadcasts of most of the Major League Baseball postseason, including all of the Cardinals games, which continues with Wednesday's start of the World Series.

“101 ESPN is rebuilding our entire schedule because of the Cardinals post-season success...and we love it,” station Program Director Kent Sterling said in a statement.

Besides carrying the games themselves, the station will:

  • Hold a three-hour pregame show with The Fast Lane hosts Randy Karraker, D’Marco Farr and Bob Ramsey, featuring analysis and comment from the station's panel of baseball insiders.
  • Offer a 90-minute postgame show with reaction from the locker room and listener phone calls.

The station is also giving away a pair of tickets to each St. Louis home game in the series, in unique fashion. For Game 1, fans need to get a celebrity to call the station at 314-692-5523 by Wednesday at 2 p.m. A station committee will decide who got the biggest celebrity to call in on their behalf.

Among those who had already called in were former Ram Eric Dickerson, former Chicago Bear QB Jim McMahon, Senator Claire McCaskill and actor Jon Hamm.

The winner will be announced Wednesday at 3 p.m.
