Donnie White Gives Verbal College Football Pledge To Tulsa

The De Smet senior is one of the area's top defenders.

A week and a half after telling Patch that he planned to focus on a state title run before making a college choice, De Smet Jesuit Senior Donnie White, a defensive end, announced via Twitter late Monday night that he was committing to play at the University of Tulsa.

White could not be reached for comment.

White, who has 13 sacks on the season, had offers from Boston College, Wyoming and Arkansas, among others.

The pledge, which is only verbal at this point and won't be official until a signed letter of intent is signed in February, would be the second for Tulsa from this year's crop of Metro Catholic Conference squads. The Golden Hurricane program also secured a verbal pledge from CBC tailback Jonathan Parker earlier this fall.

The two potential college teammates next year will have at least one more opportunity to challenge eachother as high school rivals when De Smet travels to CBC for a spot in the Class 6 Final Four Friday night.
