The Colts lose to the Pioneers in a battle of state-ranked powers.
CHESTERFIELD – Behind a flurry of big plays on offense and sheer dominance on defense, the Kirkwood Pioneers earned a convincing 40-21 win over Suburban South Conference rival Friday night, in a matchup of the No. 4 and No. 5-ranked teams in Missouri Class 5, at PCH Stadium.
Fourth-ranked Kirkwood scored five rushing touchdowns, and recovered a blocked punt in Parkway Central’s endzone for another score, on a night when the Pioneers led 20-0 at halftime, 27-0 early in the third quarter, and 33-7 at the end of three quarters.
Parkway Central got its scores on short touchdown runs by Cole Gorman and Alan Gasanli, and a 35-yard touchdown pass from Gorman to star wide receiver Brandon Sheperd.
