Lafayette Spoils Pattonville's Home Football Opener

The Lancers got out to an early first quarter lead and never looked back against the Pirates Friday.

Years from now, if people ask who scored the first three varsity touchdowns at Pattonville High School's new football stadium, here's the name you'll want to remember: Deonte Robinson, a junior running back.

Unfortunately for the homestanding Pirates and their fans, Robinson suits up for Lafayette.

Robinson hit paydirt three times in the first half, as the Lancers (2-0), ranked 5th in Missouri's Class 6, cruised to a 48-0 road win. Pattonville falls to (0-2).

With any luck, there will be better weather for both contests. The teams played through heavy rains throughout the night as St. Louis was hit hard by the remnants of Hurricane Isaac. It was enough to cancel planned halftime performances by the Pattonville High School Band and the school's cheerleaders.

Lafayette returns home next week against Marquette while Pattonville goes back on the road against Hazelwood East.
