Minnesota Vikings Sign Robert Steeples To Practice Squad

Steeples was released by the NFL's St. Louis Rams and will now hook on elsewhere in the NFC.

De Smet Jesuit graduate Robert Steeples has a new NFL home. The former University of Missouri and University of Memphis cornerback, who was released by the St. Louis Rams in the preseason after signing as an undrafted free agent, was signed Wednesday by the Minnesota Vikings for the NFC team's practice squad.

Teams are allowed to keep a roster of eight practice players, who each make at least $6,000 per week. Players on practice squads are eligible to be signed to any other team's active roster, except in the case of their "team's upcoming opponent, unless they do so six days before the upcoming game or 10 days if their team is currently on a bye week," according to The Bleacher Report.

One Vikings writer reports that Steeples will be issued the uniform number 26, most recently worn by Antoine Winfield, a veteran Vikings defensive back who recently retired.
