Parkway North Grad Donavin Newsom Carries On 'AO' Legacy

The linebacker is entering his redshirt freshman season at the University of Missouri.

After sitting out his freshman season at the University of Missouri as a redshirt, Parkway North graduate Donavin Newsom is getting ready to hit the field as a Tiger. He's working his way up the depth chart at linebacker and when he does get into game action, he'll do it with a familiar number on his jersey.

Newsom wears number 25, the second player to be given the honor of wearing the number worn by the late Aaron O'Neal. O'Neal, also a Parkway North graduate, died after an offseason conditioning drill at Mizzou in July 2005.

Zavier Gooden was the first player selected to wear the number in tribute to O'Neal. Gooden is now a member of the Tennessee Titans.

The Mizzou Network explores how Newsom, who was assigned the number 41 last season, is carrying on the tradition. You can play the video above to watch the story.
