Pattonville Grads Find Themselves On The Wrong Side Of Football History

Division III QB Sam Durley set the NCAA's all-time passing record Saturday against a team with a pair of Pattonville graduates on defense.

Plenty of former St. Louis area high school football standouts took to the field Saturday in the college ranks, but they will all be hard-pressed to top the game Quentin Gittemeier and Patrick McGinty played in this weekend.

The two graduates were witness to NCAA history Saturday, as their Knox College (IL) Prairie Fire lost to the Eureka College (IL) Red Devils. Eureka QB Sam Durley broke an NCAA single-game record with 736 passing yards in Eureka's 62-55 win, which came at the expense of the former Pattonville pair's Knox defense.
