Pattonville Staying In The Suburban Conference

Superintendents from the Gateway Athletic Conference spurned Pirates' bid to join the league on Thursday.

The will remain in the Suburban North Conference as athletic competitors, after school superintendents from members of the Gateway Athletic Conference voted 5-2 Thursday against the bid. . The other schools were approved Thursday.

Reached Friday, Pattonville Athletic Director Bob Hebrank said he wasn't given a personal explanation for the vote.

He said the district felt "it would be a good opportunity for our programs," but added the application was not a sign that Pattonville felt it would be a better fit than the Suburban Conference.

Hebrank said Suburban Conference superintendents will meet May 2 to talk about their own possibilities for realignment.
