Recruiting Update: Donnie White, Jr. Drawing Attention At Home & On The Trail

The Defensive End/Linebacker is standing out for reasons besides his choice of socks.

Donnie White, Jr. has already made an impression on college coaches--enough to garner scholarship offers from a handful of Division I programs like Arkansas, Boston, College, New Mexico and Wyoming, among others.

He's now in the middle of a stretch which could see that group grow to include the University of Missouri and a number of other schools in the Midwest.

Several publications touted his performance--and his pink socks--this past weekend at the Mizzou camp held at his own De Smet campus, and he's parlaying that extra attention to draw eyes to his athletic talents.

White told Patch Monday that the Mizzou coaches said he "looked great out there," and that he hoped to hear feedback from the staff that could take the form of an offer. Another school, Arizona State, which has been in contact, could be in the same mode as early as next week, White said.

NCAA regulations prohibit coaches from discussing recruits until the player signs an official letter of intent in February of the player's senior year.

White will now take his show on the road for a five day swing as part of a select camp tour that will have him in front of coaches from Cincinnati, Vanderbilt, Miami (OH), Illinois and Purdue. It's a chance to make first impressions in some cases and solidify offers from other schools which have shown interest so far.

White attributes the added interest to getting the opportunity to show college coaches how well he can move. Doing it in camps like these also allows him to get quality time (or as close as you can get to it, considering there are sometimes hundreds of recruits at camps) with coaching staffs without using up official visits as allowed under NCAA bylaws.

that he intends to wait until the end of his upcoming senior season before announcing a college choice.
