Robert Steeples Signing With The St. Louis Rams

The Florissant native who went to De Smet Jesuit High School was not selected in this weekend's NFL Draft.

Robert Steeples wrote earlier this week in a Patch blog that the best advice he received about waiting out the NFL Draft was to 

Steeples, a Florissant native who graduated from De Smet Jesuit High School before moving on to a college career at the University of Missouri and the University of Memphis, was not selected in the 2013 NFL Draft.

Instead, Steeples, a cornerback, announced on Twitter after the draft that he would be signing with the St. Louis Rams as a free agent. The team had a private workout with him before the draft.

While it may be everyone's dream to have their name called at the draft, not being selected can give players a chance to evaluate the best chance at making a roster, or at least the chance to get noticed by someone else around the league.

The Rams drafted another cornerback, Miami's Brandon McGee in the 5th round this year, and have Cortland Finnegan and Janoris Jenkins entrenched as starters.
