Scott Van Slyke Sent Back To The Minors

The Dodgers outfielder/infielder hit his first major league home run against the St. Louis Cardinals.

Former Burroughs prep baseball standout Scott Van Slyke has been optioned back to Albuquerque by the Los Angeles Dodgers. The move came Sunday as the National League squad, which has been hit hard by outfield injuries, saw the return of veteran Juan Rivera to the lineup.

Van Slyke, son of longtime Cardinals and Pirates outfielder and former , cracked his first Major League home run on a Sunday night baseball telecast against his hometown Cardinals last month.

On the season, Van Slyke was hitting .194 with two doubles, a home run and six RBI in 17 games with Los Angeles, according to a team press release announcing the move.
