Souhegan Softball Continues Winning Streak

The Souhegan Sabers are 3-0.

By Andrea Crocker

The Souhegan Sabers are 3-0 after a 6th inning rally to win against Milford. Milford scored two runs in the first inning even though Angela Mukai struck out 3 batters in the inning. No scoring until the top of the 5th: Milford scores one unearned run (reaches base on an error, and scored on a pass ball). The Souhegan girls stayed focused and determined going into the 6th inning and scored 5 runs: Ali Mensh reaches on an error, Ali Sumski hits a triple to get the RBI, followed by Angela Mukai hitting a single scoring Sumski, Sam Jones reaches on an error and then Val Mukai hits a single scoring 2 runs. 5-3 going into the top of 7th; Milford will score one run. Final score: Souhegan 5, Milford 4.

Pitching was great today: Sam Jones (catcher) called a great game, and Angela Mukai is looking confident on the mouth. She got 6 strike outs with only one intentional walk. Gave up 7 hits.

Great defense kept Milford off the bases. Kate Stover (center field) and Liz Beecy (left field) made 7 catches between the two of them..a few great catches on the run. Last out of the game was a ground ball that pulled Ali Sumski (shortstop) toward 3rd base. She flipped the ball to Alli Mensh who then tagged the runner out who had advanced from second but over ran 3rd base....GREAT heads up play.

I'm very happy with the way we have started our season. We need to keep working hard and having fun.
