Taylor Era Ends At Chaminade With District Loss To Webster Groves

The Statesmen started off the postseason strong, shutting out the Red Devils 28-0 Friday.

In the Webster Groves High School football team's first Districts game Oct. 26, the Statesmen held their opponent, the Chaminade Red Devils (4-6), to a goose egg on the scoreboard.

Webster Groves (7-2) took the victory 28-0 with four touchdowns and four succeeding extra point kicks. Statesmen junior Bri'on Sanders ran for 87 yards, taking it to the endzone twice in the 1st quarter. Junior D.J. Johnson took care of the other two touchdowns in the 3rd and 4th, with solid carries from senior Marlon Peal, who ran for 151 yards on the night.

The game marked the end of Doug Taylor's tenure as head coach of the Red Devil program. Taylor announced earlier this season that his 16th campaign on the sideline would be his last.
