Technically, yes, the St. Louis Cardinals are in the playoffs after the Los Angeles Dodgers lost their shot at a wildcard berth on Tuesday. But it's do-or-die time for the Redbirds this afternoon.
That's when the Cards face the Atlanta Braves in a one-game playoff for the National League wildcard slot — the first year this format has been used.
First pitch is at 4:07 p.m. at Turner Field in Atlanta, where the weather is expected to be sunny and in the 80s.
Kyle Lohse (who was 16-3 during the season) takes the ball goes for the Cardinals, facing the Kris Medlen—and the Braves have won 23 straight games started by the 26-year-old right-hander.
The winner faces the Washington Nationals in the best-of-five National League Division Series, starting Sunday.
The game will be aired on TBS. In addition to listening to Mike Shannon call the game on KMOX, you can also listen to the ESPN Radio broadcast of the game on Creve Coeur-based 101 ESPN.
If you're looking for somewhere to watch the game, you might try Buffalo Wild Wings, or TGI Fridays.
Who do you think will win?
