HavenHouse Wins Funding Via Patch's Volunteer Efforts

Patch staff will work a concession at Thursday's St. Louis Cardinals game against the L.A. Dodgers, to raise money for charity. Elissa Plastino won our contest to donate the proceeds to her charity of choice. Congrats!

Elissa Plastino, who works in brand marketing for the corporate office of . in Creve Coeur, won . But the real winner will be , Plastino's choice for where our fundraising dollars go.

HavenHouse provides "the comfort of home and a community of support for families traveling to St. Louis" for medical care.

Here's what's happening: A group of Patch editors will work a concession stand at Thursday's St. Louis Cardinals game against the Los Angeles Dodgers. We intended to donate a portion of our proceeds (estimated between $1,500 and $2,500) to a local charity.

So we had a : Readers who signed up for a Patch newsletter were entered into a drawing. One lucky winner would get to tell us where we should donate the money. That winner was Plastino.

"I nominated HavenHouse because I truly believe in the organization," Plastino told Patch in an email. She's been on the HavenHouse St. Louis Young Professionals Board since March 2011, volunteering at events, the organization's annual Hopefest gala and raising awareness of the organization.

"Since HavenHouse relies heavily on the generosity of donations (corporate and individual) as well as charitable grants, I nominate them for everything I can, and this time we got lucky with Patch," said Plastino, who has blogged about her work with HavenHouse.
