John Faust died April 22, 2012.
The De Smet Jesuit community is remembering the late John Faust, who passed away Sunday April 22. According to a brief statement on the school's Facebook page, Faust was "a teacher of theatre, fine arts and history, as well the Director of the Dionysian Players and service projects at De Smet from 1970-1979. A mentor and friend to countless Spartans, John was inducted into the De Smet Jesuit Hall of Fame in 2006." According to the school, visitation is scheduled for Saturday April 28 at 10 a.m. at St. Monica Church in Creve Coeur followed by mass at 11 a.m.

Clayton Pfeiffer, 18, died Tuesday following a Chesterfield car accident.
Vianney High School announced late Wednesday that it would host a funeral mass Saturday for Clayton Pfeiffer, a 2011 graduate of the school who died Tuesday in a car accident in Chesterfield on Olive Blvd. near Creve Coeur Mill Road. Police say Pfeiffer's vehicle was struck head on by a car which crossed the center line. (Read Previous: Authorities Identify Crash Victim As Missouri Baptist Student) Visitation will be held Friday at Kutis Funeral Home in Affton from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday at Vianney.

Tributes are coming in to remember the late Billikens coach.
When Chaminade Boys Varsity Basketball Coach Kelvin Lee first learned of the opportunity to join Charlie Spoonhour's staff at St. Louis University in 1992, he was told he'd be crazy not to take it. "You’re going to learn basketball because he’s a genius, but he knows how to treat people," Lee said Wednesday he was told at the time. Spoonhour had been in failing health following a lung transplant and died in North Carolina Wednesday morning. Lee said he learned through members of the Spoonhour coaching tree Tuesday night that the former SLU, Missouri State and UNLV coach was still fighting, but that it wasn't a good sign when Spoonhour's son, Jay, a junior college coach, was called away from his team Tuesday night. Dr. Pat Berger was a fixture in the Creve Coeur school's english department.
A memorial mass Saturday afternoon will celebrate the life of Dr. Pat Berger. Berger capped a teaching career which spanned more than four decades with a 17 year stint at De Smet Jesuit High School in Creve Coeur. Berger died January 9. Saturday's mass will be held at St. Francis Xavier College Church, 3628 Lindell Boulevard, beginning at 3 p.m. De Smet has also established a scholarship fund in his honor. Dr. Berger also taught at Parkway South High School.

The Creve Coeur school will be closed Tuesday to allow students and staff to attend funeral service.
Students and staff at De Smet Jesuit High School have spent the weekend remembering the life of a member of the senior class. The student, Tom Horan, died Friday. The school held a memorial mass on Saturday, and will cancel classes Tuesday so students, faculty and staff can attend funeral services Tuesday. A Ladue businessman is the Republican frontrunner for the 2012 gubernatorial primary. Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder announced at 4 p.m. Friday that he is dropping out of the Missouri governor race, according to an Associated Press story. Kinder has struggled after articles about visits at a strip club and taxpayer-supported hotel stays. Kinder said he would support the candidacy of Dave Spence, of Ladue. Spence is president of Alpha Packaging on Page Industrial Boulevard in Overland. He has never run for office. Spence is “a self-made man and proven manager who understands how to create jobs and improve the state's economy,” Kinder said, according to the AP article. Bob Forsch pitched for St. Louis for 15 seasons.
Bob Forsch, a mainstay of the St. Louis Cardinals pitching staff for 15 seasons and a member of the team's three World Series appearances in the 1980s, has died. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported Forsch had an aneurysm and passed away Thursday near Tampa. Forsch lived in Creve Coeur during his playing days. His home in the Country Forest subdivision was across the street from former city councilman Robert Haddenhorst. Reached by phone Friday morning, Haddenhorst said he was "extremely sad" to learn the news, especially considering Forsch, a former athlete , was just a few years older. Brandon Hsueh, the 13 year-old Priory School student who passed away Friday after suffering critical injuries Wednesday, will be remembered at events this week. Brandon was hurt in a car accident while he was practicing with his cross country team off campus. His funeral was held Monday morning at the Episcopal Church of St. Michael & St. George in Clayton. Hsueh was a student at St. Michael prior to enrolling at Priory. He was mourned by a capacity crowd which heard his father, Dr. Eddy Hsueh, talk about a boy who would often share his pencils with those who asked, content with what he had when given the chance to upgrade to a newer gadget. Janet Esrock died Sunday following injuries sustained in an August 26 car accident.
A memorial service was held Friday for Janet Esrock, the Chesterfield woman and Whitfield School Teacher and coach who died Sunday after sustaining serious injuries in a two-car accident August 26. By one informal police estimate, there were at least 500 people in the standing room only crowd at Temple Emanuel late Friday morning. Mourners stood in the lobby after many of them parked across the street at Mercy Hospital. Those in attendance heard friends and family speak of a woman dedicated to her family, her students and her school--"she literally breathed Whitfield," one speaker said. A memorial service for Janet Esrock, the Whitfield School teacher who died Sunday following injuries sustained in a car accident last month will be held Friday. The service will be held at Temple Emanuel, 12166 Conway Road St. Louis, MO 63141 beginning at 10:30 a.m. Whitfield School will be closed Friday to allow students and faculty to attend the service. In a change from earlier arrangements, the school will host calling hours from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m Friday afternoon in Schmitter Gallery.
