It’s hard to believe, but 2011 is only a few short days away from ending, and the natural human inclination is to engage in retrospection. As is the case near the end of December, it’s hard to pick a particular issue or event that defined an entire year. In particular, 2011 featured fierce fights over redistricting, a devastating tornado in Joplin, delicate political maneuvering and a large dose of presidential politics heading into 2012. And even though 2011 was a nonelection year for most folks, there were still some notable contests that caught some interest. St. Louis County residents can pay in Clayton, or in West, South or North County satellite offices.
St. Louis County residents have until Dec. 30 to pay their tax bills in person because county offices will be closed Dec. 31 (it's a Saturday). Tax payments that are mailed must be postmarked by Dec. 31. Residents can pay their tax bills at the Collector of Revenue’s office (41 S. Central Avenue in Clayton), or at the West County satellite office (74 Clarkson Wilson Centre, in Chesterfield) from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Offices are in north and south county too. The county takes checks or money orders at all locations and cash at the Clayton and North County offices. Real and personal property taxes can also be paid online. Residents who do not pay their taxes can incur interest and penalties, county officials said.

The same hospital had a baby born on January 11, 2011 at the same time.
Mercy Hospital St. Louis confirms that a baby was born Friday morning at a time numerologists would love: 11:11 a.m. on November 11, 2011. According to a hospital spokesperson, Matthew David Andrzejewski, of St. Peters arrived weighing 9 pounds and 13 ounces. Patch is on the way to the hospital to speak to the happy family and will have details on this "developing story" later in the day.
